حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ بْنِ الْبَرْقِيِّ، أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ، حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَجْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنِي الْقَعْقَاعُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مِقْسَمٍ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لاَ غُولَ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) states: I heard Hisham ibn Hakim ibn Hizam (may Allah be well pleased with him) reciting Surah al-Furqan. He recited many letters that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had not taught me. I was about to attack him during the prayer, but when he said the salutation, I seized him by his cloak and asked: Who taught you to recite this surah in this manner? He said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) taught it to me. I said: You are mistaken! For the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) taught me this surah differently. I then dragged him to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and submitted: I heard this man reciting Surah al-Furqan with letters you did not teach me. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: O Umar, release him. Then he said: Recite, O Hisham. He recited the same way. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: It was revealed thus. Then he stated: Recite, O Umar. I recited. He stated: It was revealed thus. Indeed, this Quran has been revealed in seven dialects, so recite whichever is easy for you.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے ہشام بن حکیم بن حزام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو سورۃ الفرقان پڑھتے سنا، انہوں نے اس میں بہت سے ایسے حروف پڑھے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے نہیں پڑھائے تھے۔ قریب تھا کہ میں نماز میں ہی ان پر ٹوٹ پڑتا۔ پھر جب سلام پھیرا تو میں نے ان کی چادر سے ان کو گرفت میں لیا اور پوچھا: تمہیں اس سورت کو اس طرح پڑھتے کس نے سکھایا؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے یہ سکھائی ہے۔ میں نے کہا: تم نے غلط کہا! کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے اس سورت کو اس سے مختلف طریقے سے سکھایا ہے۔ پھر میں ان کو کھینچ کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں لے گیا اور عرض کیا: میں نے اس شخص کو سورۃ الفرقان ایسے حروف سے پڑھتے سنا جو آپ نے مجھے نہیں پڑھائے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اے عمر! چھوڑو انہیں۔ (ہشام سے) فرمایا: پڑھو اے ہشام! تو انہوں نے وہی قراءت پڑھی۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسی طرح نازل ہوئی ہے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: پڑھو اے عمر! تو میں نے پڑھا۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسی طرح نازل ہوئی ہے۔ بے شک یہ قرآن سات حرف پر نازل ہوا ہے، پس ان میں سے جو تمہیں آسان ہو وہ پڑھو۔
