Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالْقَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلاَحُهُ وَلاَ يُبَاعُ إِلاَّ بِالدِّينَارِ أَوْ بِالدِّرْهَمِ إِلاَّ الْعَرَايَا .
English Translation
It is narrated by Hadrat Jabir (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits until their ripeness becomes apparent, and they should not be sold except for dinars or dirhams, except for araya (i.e., the concession of selling fresh dates for dried dates is permitted in araya).
Urdu Translation
حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پھلوں کی بیع سے منع فرمایا جب تک ان کی پختگی ظاہر نہ ہو، اور وہ صرف دینار یا درہم میں بیچے جائیں سوائے عرایا کے (یعنی عرایا میں خشک کھجور کے عوض تازہ کھجور بیچنے کی اجازت ہے)۔
