Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، : أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، أَقْسَمَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم : " لاَ تُقْسِمْ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) adjured the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (i.e., put him under oath). The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated to him: 'Do not adjure.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر قسم ڈالی (یعنی آپ کو قسم دی)، تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے ارشاد فرمایا: قسم نہ دو۔
