Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عُرِضَهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ فَلَمْ يُجِزْهُ وَعُرِضَهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً فَأَجَازَهُ .
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) presented him (for military service) on the day of Uhud when he was fourteen years old, but he did not permit him; and he presented him on the day of the Trench (Khandaq) when he was fifteen years old, and he permitted him.
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے غزوۂ اُحد کے موقع پر جب ان کی عمر چودہ سال تھی انہیں پیش کیا گیا تو آپ نے اجازت نہ دی، اور غزوۂ خندق کے موقع پر جب ان کی عمر پندرہ سال تھی پیش کیا گیا تو آپ نے اجازت دے دی۔
