حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ نُبَيْهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ اشْتَكَى عُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ عَيْنَيْهِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبَانَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ - قَالَ سُفْيَانُ وَهُوَ أَمِيرُ الْمَوْسِمِ - مَا يَصْنَعُ بِهِمَا قَالَ اضْمِدْهُمَا بِالصَّبِرِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ - رضى الله عنه - يُحَدِّثُ ذَلِكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم .
English Translation
Hadrat Nubaih ibn Wahb (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that Umar ibn Ubaydullah ibn Ma'mar had a complaint in both his eyes. He sent someone to Hadrat Aban ibn Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him) -- the narrator Sufyan said that he was the commander of the pilgrims during that Hajj season -- asking what he should do about them. He replied: Apply aloes to them, for I heard Hadrat Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrating this from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).
Urdu Translation
حضرت نبیہ بن وہب سے روایت ہے کہ عمر بن عبیداللہ بن معمر کی دونوں آنکھیں دکھنے لگیں۔ تو انہوں نے حضرت ابان بن حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس پوچھنے کے لیے بھیجا (سفیان کہتے ہیں: ابان اس موسمِ حج کے امیر تھے) کہ وہ اپنی آنکھوں کا کیا علاج کریں؟ تو انہوں نے فرمایا: ان پر ایلوا (صبر) کا لیپ لگاؤ، کیونکہ میں نے حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے سنا ہے، وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے اس کا ذکر فرما رہے تھے۔
