Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ مَخْشِيٍّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْفِرَاسِيِّ، أَنَّ الْفِرَاسِيَّ، قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَسْأَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ سَائِلاً لاَ بُدَّ فَاسْأَلِ الصَّالِحِينَ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn al-Firasi (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that al-Firasi (may Allah be well pleased with him) said to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), may I beg (from people)?' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'No. But if there is absolutely no escape from it, then beg from the righteous.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابن الفراسی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت فراسی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہِ اقدس میں عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا میں (لوگوں سے) سوال کروں؟ تو حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں! اور اگر سوال کرنا بالکل ناگزیر ہی ہو جائے تو نیک لوگوں سے سوال کرو۔
