الترجمة الإنجليزية
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to 'Uthman ibn Talhah on the Day of the Conquest: "Bring me the key of the Ka'bah." He delayed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was standing waiting for him, perspiring so much that drops like pearls were falling from him, saying: "What is keeping him?" A man went to fetch it. The woman who had the key — and he thought he said it was 'Uthman's mother — kept saying: "If he takes it from you, he will never give it back to you." 'Uthman kept persuading her until she gave him the key. He took it to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who opened the door, entered the House (Ka'bah), then came out with the people and sat by the water station (Siqayah). 'Ali ibn Abi Talib said: "O Messenger of Allah, if we have been given prophethood, the water station, and the custodianship (of the Ka'bah), then no people would have a greater share than us." The Prophet (peace be upon him) seemed to dislike his words. Then he called 'Uthman ibn Talhah, returned the key to him, and said: "Hide it." 'Abd al-Razzaq said: I narrated this to Ibn 'Uyaynah, who said: "Ibn Jurayj informed me — I think from Ibn Abi Mulaykah — that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to 'Ali that day regarding the key: 'I have only given you what costs you (the Siqayah, which requires expenditure) and I have not given you what earns you (the custodianship of the Ka'bah, which brings gifts).'"
