Ibn 'Abbas said: Salman returned from an absence, and 'Umar met him and said: "I am pleased with you as a servant of Allah." Salman then married into the tribe of Kindah. On his wedding night, he found the house decorated and women present. He said: "Has the Ka'bah moved to Kindah, or is this a celebration? Our beloved Abu al-Qasim (peace be upon him) commanded us not to acquire furnishings except like a traveler's provisions, and not to take women except those we marry." The women left, and he entered upon his wife and said: "O woman, will you obey me or disobey me?" She said: "I will obey you in whatever you wish." He said: "Our beloved (peace be upon him) commanded us that when one of us enters upon his wife, he should stand and pray, and command her to pray behind him, and he should supplicate and she should say Amin." They did so. When he sat in the gathering of Kindah, a man asked: "How did you find your wife last night?" Salman was silent. When the man repeated the question, Salman said: "Why does one of you ask about what walls and doors have concealed? It suffices that you ask about something and either receive an answer or silence."
