Narrated Abu Malik al-Ash'ari: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said during the Farewell Pilgrimage on the Days of Sacrifice to the people, 'Is this not the sacred day?' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'The sanctity between you until the Day of Resurrection is like the sanctity of this day. And I shall tell you who the Muslim is: the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe. And I shall tell you who the believer is: the one whom the Muslims trust with their lives and wealth. And I shall tell you who the emigrant (Muhajir) is: the one who abandons sins. The believer is sacred to the believer like the sanctity of this day: his flesh is sacred - not to be consumed through backbiting, his honor is sacred - not to be violated, his face is sacred - not to be slapped, his blood is sacred - not to be spilled, his wealth is sacred - not to be wrongfully taken, and harming him is forbidden, and pushing him is forbidden.'
