Abu al-Hawra' said: I said to al-Hasan ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "How old were you during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and what do you remember from him?" He said: "I remember that I heard him say: 'Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt, for evil is doubt and goodness is tranquility.' And I remember from him the five daily prayers and words that I say at their conclusion. He said: 'Say: O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, take me into Your care among those You have taken into Your care, bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. Indeed, You decree and none decrees against You. He whom You befriend is never humiliated. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.'" Burayd ibn Abi Maryam said: I went to Muhammad ibn 'Ali in the mountain pass and told him this hadith from Abu al-Hawra' from al-Hasan ibn 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "He spoke the truth. These are words that we were taught to say in the qunut (supplication in prayer)."
