Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:12194 حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي عِيَاضُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْفِهْرِيُّ عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي أَبِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ فَرَقَدَني عَلَى فَضْلِ وِسَادَةٍ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ قَامَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ آخِرَ سُورَةَ آلَ عِمْرَانَ {إِنَّ فِي خَلَقِ السَّماَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ} حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا ثُمَّ عَمَدَ إِلَى شَجْبٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ مُعَلَّقٍ فَتَسَوَّكَ وَتَوَضَّأَ وَأَسْبَغَ الْوُضُوءَ وَلَمْ يُهْرِقْ مِنَ الْمَاءِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ حَرَّكَنِي فَقُمْتُ فَتَوَضَّأْتُ فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَحَوَّلَنِي فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ يَفْتِلُ بِأُذُنِي فَصَلَّى عَشْرَ رَكَعَاتٍ ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ ثُمَّ نَامَ وَكَانَ إِذَا نَامَ نَفَخَ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ بِلَالٌ فَأَيْقَظَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَقَامَ فَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ

Ibn Abbas said: My father sent me to the Prophet ♂ with a gift. I came to him while he was in Maymunah's house. He made me lie on a portion of the pillow. When it was the middle of the night, he got up and looked at the sky, then recited the end of Surah Aal Imran: {Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth} until he completed it. Then he went to a hanging water vessel, used the siwak, performed ablution thoroughly without pouring much water. Then he woke me up, and I got up and performed ablution. I stood at his left side, and he moved me to stand at his right side. He would recite while twisting my ear. He prayed ten rak'ahs, then prayed witr, then slept. When he slept, he would snore. Then Bilal came and woke him for the prayer. He stood and prayed two light rak'ahs, then went out to the prayer.
