Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:10547 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ الْمُسْتَمْلِي وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ قَالَا ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْكِنْدِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ أَبِي الْكَهْتَلَةِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَظُنُّهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَرَ جِبْرِيلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ إِلَّا مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَ أَمَّا مَرَّةٌ فَإِنَّهُ سَأَلَهُ أَنْ يُرِيَهُ نَفْسَهُ فِي صُورَتِهِ فَأَرَاهُ فَأَتَاهُ يَسُدُّ الْأُفُقَ وَأَمَّا الثَّانِيَةُ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَهُ إِذْ صَعِدَ فِي قَوْلِهِ {ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّى فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى فَأَوْحَى إِلَى عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَى} فَلَمَّا أَنْ حَسَّ جِبْرِيلُ رَبَّهُ ﷻ عَادَ فِي صُورَتِهِ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ {وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَى عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ} الْمُنْتَهَى عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَى إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ «خَلْقِ جِبْرِيلَ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he did not see Jibril in his true form except twice. As for the first time, he asked him to show himself in his true form, and he showed him, filling the horizon. As for the second time, he was with him when he ascended, as in His saying: {Then he drew near and descended, and was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. And He revealed to His servant what He revealed.} When Jibril sensed his Lord the Almighty, he returned to his true form. That is His saying: {And he certainly saw him in another descent, at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, near which is the Garden of Refuge} to His saying: {He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.} He said: "The creation of Jibril."
