نا نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، أَنَّرَجُلا انْتَسَفَتْهُ الْجِنُّ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَلَبِثَ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَلْبَثَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ امْرَأَتَهُ أَتَتْ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ،" فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَرَبَّصَ أَرْبَعَ سِنِينَ، فَلَمَّا لَمْ يَجِئْ , أَمَرَ وَلِيَّهُ أَنْ يُطَلِّقَهَا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَعْتَدَّ، فَإِذَا انْقِضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا وَجَاءَ زَوْجُهَا خُيِّرَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ الصَّدَاقِ".
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Yahya ibn Ja'dah narrated: A man was snatched by the jinn during the time of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab. He remained absent for as long as Allah willed. Then his wife came to 'Umar, who ordered her to wait four years. When he did not return, 'Umar ordered the husband's guardian to divorce her, then ordered her to observe the waiting period. If her husband returned after the waiting period, he would be given a choice between having her back or receiving the dowry (from the new husband).

سیدنا عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ کے دور میں ایک شخص جنات کے ہاتھوں اٹھا لیا گیا، اس کی بیوی نے چار سال انتظار کیا، پھر ولی کو طلاق کا حکم دیا، پھر عدت گزاری، اور اگر شوہر واپس آتا تو اسے اختیار دیا جاتا۔[سنن سعید بن منصور/كتاب الطلاق/حدیث: 2931]
