وعن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : أي الأعمال أفضل؟ قال: "الصلاة على أوقتها" قلت: ثم أي؟ قال: "بر الوالدين" قلت ثم أي؟ قال: " الجهاد في سبيل الله" ((متفق عليه))
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that I asked the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): "Which act is the best?" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, "As-Salat at their fixed times." I asked, "What next?" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, "Being dutiful to parents." I asked, "What next?" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, "Striving (Jihad) in the way of Allah.".
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے پوچھا: سب سے افضل عمل کون سا ہے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: 'نماز وقت پر ادا کرنا۔' میں نے عرض کیا: پھر کون سا؟ ارشاد فرمایا: 'والدین کے ساتھ حسنِ سلوک۔' میں نے عرض کیا: پھر کون سا؟ ارشاد فرمایا: 'اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد۔'
