It is narrated that Hadrat Abu Hurairah and Hadrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] would sit among his Companions and if a stranger came, he would not know which of them was he (the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW]) until he asked. So we suggested to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] that we should make a dais for him so that any stranger would know him if he came to him. So we built for him a bench made of clay on which he used to sit. (One day) we were sitting and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] was sitting in his spot, when a man came along who was the most handsome and good-smelling of all people, and it was as if no dirt had ever touched his garments. He came near the edge of the rug and greeted him, saying: 'Peace be upon you, O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!' He returned the greeting, and he said: 'Shall I come closer, O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)?' He came a little closer, and he kept telling him to come closer, until he put his hands on the knees of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW]. He said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), tell me, what is Islam?' He said: 'Islam means to worship Allah and not associate anything with Him; to establish Salah, to pay Zakah, to perform Hajj to the House, and to fast Ramadan.' He said: 'If I do that, will I have submitted (be a Muslim)?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth,' we found it odd. He said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), tell me, what is faith?' He said: 'To believe in Allah [SWT], His Angels, the Book, the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)s, and to believe in the Divine Decree.' He said: 'If I do that, will I have believed?' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] said: 'Yes.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' He said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), tell me, what is Al-Ihsan?' He said: 'To worship Allah [SWT] as if you can see Him, for although you cannot see Him, He can see you.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' He said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), tell me about the Hour.' He lowered his head and did not answer. Then he repeated the question, and he did not answer. Then he repeated the question (a third time) and he did not answer. Then he raised his head and said: 'The one who is being asked does not know more than the one who is asking. But it has signs, by which it may be known. When you see the herdsmen competing in building tall buildings, when you see the barefoot and naked ruling the Earth, when you see a woman giving birth to her mistress. Five things which no one knows except Allah [SWT]. Verily, Allah, with Him (alone) is the knowledge of the Hour up to His saying: 'Verily, Allah is All-Knower, All-Aware (of things).' Then he said: 'No, by the One who sent Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with the truth, with guidance and glad tidings, I did not know him more than any man among you. That was Jibril, peace be upon you, who came down in the form of Dihyah Al-Kalbi
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابوہریرہ اور حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اپنے صحابہ کے درمیان بیٹھتے تھے۔ جب کوئی اجنبی آتا تو وہ نہیں پہچان سکتا تھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کون ہیں، یہاں تک کہ پوچھتا۔ ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے عرض کیا کہ آپ کے لیے ایک مخصوص جگہ بنائیں تاکہ آنے والا اجنبی آپ کو پہچان لے۔ چنانچہ ہم نے آپ کے لیے مٹی کا ایک چبوترا بنایا جس پر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف فرما ہوتے تھے۔ ایک دن ہم بیٹھے ہوئے تھے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اپنی جگہ تشریف فرما تھے کہ ایک شخص آیا جو سب لوگوں سے حسین ترین چہرے والا اور خوشبودار تھا، اس کے کپڑوں کو گویا کبھی میل نہ لگا تھا۔ وہ بساط کے کنارے پر آ کر سلام کیا اور عرض کیا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) آپ پر سلام ہو۔ آپ نے سلام کا جواب دیا۔ اس نے کہا: کیا میں قریب آؤں اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)؟ آپ نے فرمایا: قریب آؤ۔ وہ بار بار قریب آتا رہا یہاں تک کہ اس نے اپنے ہاتھ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے گھٹنوں پر رکھ دیے۔ عرض کیا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)! مجھے بتائیں اسلام کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اسلام یہ ہے کہ تو اللہ کی عبادت کرے اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہرائے، نماز قائم کرے، زکوٰۃ ادا کرے، بیت اللہ کا حج کرے اور رمضان کے روزے رکھے۔ اس نے کہا: اگر میں ایسا کروں تو کیا میں مسلمان ہو جاؤں گا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ہاں۔ اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ جب ہم نے اس شخص کا یہ قول سنا کہ آپ نے سچ فرمایا تو ہمیں تعجب ہوا۔ اس نے کہا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)! مجھے بتائیں ایمان کیا ہے؟ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ، اس کے فرشتوں، اس کی کتاب، نبیوں پر اور تقدیر پر ایمان لانا۔ اس نے کہا: اگر میں ایسا کروں تو کیا میں مؤمن ہو جاؤں گا؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ہاں۔ اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ کہا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)! مجھے بتائیں احسان کیا ہے؟ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ کی عبادت ایسے کرو گویا تم اسے دیکھ رہے ہو، اگر تم اسے نہیں دیکھ رہے تو وہ تمہیں دیکھ رہا ہے۔ اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ کہا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)! مجھے بتائیں قیامت کب آئے گی؟ آپ نے سر جھکا لیا اور کوئی جواب نہیں دیا، پھر اس نے دوبارہ پوچھا تو جواب نہیں دیا، پھر تیسری بار پوچھا تو جواب نہیں دیا۔ پھر سر اٹھایا اور ارشاد فرمایا: جس سے پوچھا جا رہا ہے وہ پوچھنے والے سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا، لیکن اس کی کچھ نشانیاں ہیں جن سے پہچانی جا سکتی ہے: جب تم دیکھو کہ ان پڑھ چرواہے اونچی اونچی عمارتیں بنانے میں ایک دوسرے سے آگے بڑھیں، ننگے پاؤں ننگے بدن والے زمین کے بادشاہ بن جائیں، اور عورت اپنے رب (مالک) کو جنے۔ پانچ چیزیں ہیں جنہیں اللہ کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ» سے «إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ» تک۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نہیں، اس ذات کی قسم جس نے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کو حق کے ساتھ ہدایت اور بشارت دے کر بھیجا، میں اسے تم میں سے کسی آدمی سے زیادہ نہیں پہچانتا تھا، اور وہ جبریل علیہ السلام تھے جو دحیہ کلبی کی صورت میں اترے تھے۔
