Narrated Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "O company of women, give charity, even if it be from your jewellery." She said: Then I came to my husband 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: You are a poor man with empty hands, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has commanded that we give charity, so go and ask the Prophet (peace be upon him): if giving to you fulfills the charity, well and good; otherwise I shall give it to someone else. 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You yourself go and ask the Prophet (peace be upon him). So I went, and an Ansari woman was standing at the door of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), having the same matter as mine. And the awe of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was great. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came out, so we said to him: Go to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and inform him that two women at the door are asking: if they give charity to their husbands and to those orphans they are raising, will it be fulfilled or not? And do not tell the Prophet (peace be upon him) who we are. Zaynab said: Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) went and asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he (peace be upon him) said: "Who are they?" Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One is an Ansari woman and the other is Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her). He (peace be upon him) said: "Which Zaynab?" He said: The wife of 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he (peace be upon him) said to Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): "For her there is a double reward in it: one for maintaining ties of kinship and the other for giving charity."

سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کی بیوی سیدہ زینب رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اے عورتوں کی جماعت! صدقہ دو اگرچہ اپنے زیور سے ہو۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پھر میں اپنے شوہر عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کے پاس آئی اور میں نے کہا کہ تم مفلس خالی ہاتھ آدمی ہو، اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا ہے کہ ہم لوگ صدقہ دیں، سو تم جا کر نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھو کہ اگر میں تم کو دے دوں اور صدقہ ادا ہو جائے تو خیر ورنہ اور کسی کو دیدوں گی۔ تو عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ تم ہی جا کر نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھو۔ پھر میں آئی اور ایک انصاری عورت رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے دروازے پر کھڑی تھی، اس کا بھی یہی کام تھا جو میرا تھا۔ اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا رعب بہت تھا۔ سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نکلے تو ہم نے کہا کہ تم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس جاؤ اور ان کو خبر دو کہ دو عورتیں دروازے پر پوچھتی ہیں کہ اگر اپنے شوہروں اور ان یتیموں کو دیں جن کو وہ پالتے ہیں، کو صدقہ دیں تو ادا ہو جائے گا یا نہیں؟ اور نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو یہ نہ بتانا کہ ہم لوگ کون ہیں۔ سیدہ زینب نے کہا کہ سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ گئے اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ وہ کون ہیں؟ تو سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا کہ ایک انصار کی عورت ہے اور دوسری زینب رضی اللہ عنہا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ کون سی زینب ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی بیوی۔ تب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ ان کو اس میں دوگنا ثواب ہے۔ ایک تو قرابت والوں سے سلوک کرنے کا اور دوسرا صدقہ کرنے کا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 528]
