It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding this verse — "Those whom they call upon themselves seek a means of access to their Lord" — that some people used to worship certain jinn; those jinn became Muslims (and their worshippers were unaware). And those people kept worshipping them, so this verse was revealed: "Those whom they call upon, they themselves seek a means of access to their Lord."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سےاس آیت”جن کو یہ لوگ پکارتے ہیں، وہ تو اپنے مالک کے پاس وسیلہ ڈھونڈھتے ہیں“کے متعلق روایت ہے کہ بعض آدمی چند جنوں کی پوجا کرتے تھے، وہ جن مسلمان ہو گئے (اور ان کے پوجنے والوں کو خبر نہ ہوئی)۔ اور وہ لوگ ان کو ہی پوجتے رہے، تب یہ آیت اتری کہ”وہ جن کی یہ لوگ پوجا کرتے ہیں، وہ تو اپنے مالک کے پاس وسیلہ ڈھونڈھتے ہیں“۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2145]
