Sayyiduna Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I am the first person to shoot an arrow in the way of Allah, and we used to fight in jihad with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while we had nothing to eat except burnt leaves and the acacia (both of these are wild trees), until one of us would pass excrement like a goat does. Then today the people of Banu Asad (i.e., the descendants of Sayyiduna Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him) admonish me regarding religion or wish to punish me; if that is so, then I am utterly at a loss and my effort has gone to waste.
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہاللہ کی قسم! میں وہ پہلا شخص ہوں جس نے اللہ کی راہ میں تیر مارا اور ہم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ جہاد کرتے تھے اور ہمارے پاس کھانے کو کچھ نہ ہوتا مگر جلے ہوئے پتے اور ببول (یہ دونوں جنگلی درخت ہیں)، یہاں تک کہ ہم میں سے کوئی ایسا پاخانہ کرتا جیسے بکری کرتی ہے۔ پھر آج بنو اسد کے لوگ (یعنی سیدنا زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کی اولاد) مجھے دین کے لئے تنبیہہ کرتے ہیں یا سزا دینا چاہتے ہیں، ایسا ہو تو میں بالکل خسارے میں پڑا اور میری محنت ضائع ہو گئی۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2084]
