Narrated Amir ibn Wathilah: He heard Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say, "The wretched one is he who is wretched from his mother's womb, and the fortunate one is he who takes admonition from another." Amir ibn Wathilah, having heard this from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), came to a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) called Hudhayfah ibn Usayd al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), and related to him this saying of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and said, "How can a man be wretched without any deeds?" Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Do you marvel at that? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, 'When forty-two nights have passed over the drop, Allah, the Exalted, sends to it an angel, who shapes its form and makes its ears, eyes, skin, flesh, and bones. Then he says, \"O Lord! Is this male or female?\" Then Allah, the Exalted, decrees what He wills, and the angel writes it. Then he says, \"O Lord! What is its lifespan?\" Then Allah, the Exalted, decrees what He wills, and the angel writes it. Then he says, \"O Lord! What is its provision?\" Then Allah, the Exalted, decrees what He wills, and the angel writes it. Then that angel comes out with this record in his hand, and nothing is added to it and nothing is diminished from it.'" And in one narration there is this addition: (the angel asks) "Is he to be sound of limb or defective?" then Allah creates him free of defect or with a defect.
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا عامر بن واثلہ سے روایت ہے کہانہوں نے سیدنا ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا، وہ کہتے تھے کہ بدبخت وہ ہے جو اپنی ماں کے پیٹ سے بدبخت ہے اور نیک بخت وہ ہے جو دوسرے سے نصیحت پائے۔ عامر بن واثلہ سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما سے یہ سن کر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ایک صحابی کے پاس آئے جن کو حذیفہ بن اسید غفاری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے تھے، اور ان سے عبداللہ بن مسعود کا یہ قول بیان کیا اور کہا کہ بغیر عمل کے آدمی کیسے بدبخت ہو گا؟ سیدنا حذیفہ رضی اللہ عنہ بولے کہ تو اس سے تعجب کرتا ہے؟ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ جب نطفہ پر بیالیس راتیں گزر جاتی ہیں تو اللہ تعالیٰ اس کے پاس ایک فرشتہ بھیجتا ہے، وہ اس کی صورت بناتا ہے اور اس کے کان، آنکھ، کھال، گوشت اور ہڈی بناتا ہے۔ پھر عرض کرتا ہے کہ اے رب! یہ مرد ہو یا عورت؟ پھر اللہ تعالیٰ جو چاہتا ہے حکم کرتا ہے اور فرشتہ لکھ لیتا ہے۔ پھر عرض کرتا ہے کہ اے رب! اس کی عمر کیا ہے؟ پھر اللہ تعالیٰ جو چاہتا ہے حکم کرتا ہے اور فرشتہ لکھ لیتا ہے۔ پھر عرض کرتا ہے کہ اے رب! اس کی روزی کیا ہے؟ پھر جو اللہ تعالیٰ چاہتا ہے وہ حکم کرتا ہے اور فرشتہ لکھ لیتا ہے۔ پھر وہ فرشتہ اپنے ہاتھ میں یہ کتاب لے کر باہر نکلتا ہے اور اس (کتاب) سے نہ کچھ بڑھتا ہے اور نہ گھٹتا ہے۔ اور ایک روایت میں اتنا زیادہ ہے کہ (فرشتہ پوچھتا ہے کہ) یہ تندرست اعضاء والا ہو یا عیب دار، پھر اللہ اس کو عیب سے پاک یا عیب والا پیدا کرتا ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1849]
