Wathilah ibn al-Asqa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying, "Allah, the Majestic and Glorious, chose Kinanah from the offspring of Ismail (peace be upon him), and Quraysh from Kinanah, and Banu Hashim from Quraysh, and He chose me from Banu Hashim."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا واثلہ بن الاسقع رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ اللہ جل جلالہ نے سیدنا اسمٰعیل علیہ السلام کی اولاد میں سے کنانہ کو چنا اور قریش کو کنانہ میں سے اور بنی ہاشم کو قریش میں سے اور مجھے بنی ہاشم میں سے چنا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1523]
