Yazid bin Abi Habib narrates that Abu al-Khayr told him: I saw Ibn Wa'lah al-Saba'i wearing a fur garment. I touched it, and he said: "Why do you touch it, O son (do you consider it impure)?" I said to Abdullah (Ibn Abbas) (may Allah be pleased with him): We live in the land of the Maghrib (the west), where there are many Berber unbelievers and fire-worshippers. They slaughter a ram and bring it. We do not eat what they have slaughtered, and they bring water-skins filled with fat. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he said: "The tanning of a hide purifies it" (that is, the hide becomes pure by tanning, even if an unbeliever tanned it).
الترجمة الأردية
یزید بن ابی حبیب سے روایت ہے کہ ابوالخیر نے ان سے بیان کیا کہمیں نے ابن وعلہ السبئی کو ایک پوستین پہنے دیکھا۔ میں نے اس کو چھوا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ابن وعلہ کیوں چھوتے ہو (کیا اس کو نجس جانتے ہو)؟ میں نے سیدنا عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا کہ ہم مغرب کے ملک میں رہتے ہیں وہاں بربر کے کافر اور آتش پرست بہت ہیں وہ مینڈھا ذبح کر کے لاتے ہیں۔ ہم تو ان کا ذبح کیا ہوا جانور نہیں کھاتے اور مشکیں لاتے ہیں، ان میں چربی ڈال کر۔ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ ہم نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ کھال رنگنے سے پاک ہو جاتی ہے (یعنی کھال رنگنے سے پاک ہو جاتی ہے اگرچہ کافر نے رنگی ہو)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 118]
