Narrated Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the day of Uhud, and I was fourteen years old, so he (peace be upon him) did not approve me (that is, did not include me among the fighters). Then I presented myself on the day of the Trench, when I was fifteen years old, and he (peace be upon him) approved me. Nafi said: I came to Umar bin Abd al-Aziz and related this hadith to him, and he was the caliph in those days, and he said, "This is the boundary between the mature and the immature," and he wrote to his governors that whoever was fifteen years old should be allotted a share, and whoever was under fifteen should be counted among the dependents. سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہمیں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے سامنے احد کے دن پیش ہوا اور میں چودہ برس کا تھا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے مجھے منظور نہ کیا (یعنی لڑنے والوں میں شامل نہ کیا) پھر میں خندق کے دن پیش ہوا جب میں پندرہ برس کا تھا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے منظور کر لیا۔ نافع نے کہا کہ میں نے یہ حدیث سیدنا عمر بن عبدالعزیز کے پاس آ کر ان سے بیان کی اور وہ ان دنوں خلیفہ تھے، تو انہوں نے کہا کہ یہی بالغ اور نابالغ کی حد ہے اور اپنے عاملوں کو لکھا کہ جو شخص پندرہ برس کا ہو اس کا حصہ لگا دیں اور جو پندرہ سے کم ہو اس کو بال بچوں میں شریک کریں۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1114]
