Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he forbade vows and said: "It brings no benefit (that is, it does not repel any impending calamity, nor does it change destiny); rather it is only a means of extracting wealth from the miser (that is, the miser does not give charity otherwise, but when a calamity befalls, he gives money under the pretext of a vow, and the poor benefit)." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1006]
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے روایت کرتے ہیں کہآپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے نذر سے منع فرمایا اور فرمایا کہ اس سے کوئی فائدہ نہیں ہوتا (یعنی کوئی آنے والی بلا نہیں رکتی اور تقدیر نہیں بدلتی) یہ صرف بلکہ بخیل سے مال نکلوانے کا ذریعہ ہے (یعنی بخیل یوں تو خیرات نہیں کرتا اور جب آفت آتی ہے تو نذر ہی کے بہانے روپیہ دیتا ہے اور مسکینوں کو فائدہ ہوتا ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1006]
