Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Ask me (about religious matters).' The Companions (may Allah be well pleased with them all) were too awestruck to ask. Then a man came and sat near his blessed knees and submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is Islam?' He stated: 'That you do not associate anything with Allah, establish prayer, pay zakat, and fast in Ramadan.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' He submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is faith?' He stated: 'That you believe in Allah, His angels, His Book, the meeting with Him, His Messengers, and that you believe in the final Resurrection, and that you believe in divine decree.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' He submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is ihsan?' He stated: 'That you fear Allah as though you see Him, and even though you do not see Him, He surely sees you.' He submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), when will the Hour come?' He stated: 'The one being asked knows no more than the one asking. But I shall tell you of its signs: when the slave-girl gives birth to her master — that is among its signs; and when barefooted people become chiefs — that is among its signs; and when shepherds compete with one another in building — that is among its signs. There are five things that none knows except Allah.' Then the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited: {Indeed Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour...} Then the man turned away. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'Bring him back!' They searched but could not find him. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'That was Jibril (upon him be peace), who came to teach the people their religion.'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ''مجھ سے (دین کے بارے میں) پوچھ لو۔'' صحابہ کرام رضوان اللہ تعالیٰ علیہم اجمعین آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے رعب سے سوال نہ کر سکے۔ تب ایک آدمی آیا اور آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے گھٹنوں کے قریب بیٹھ گیا اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اسلام کیا ہے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: ''اللہ تعالیٰ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ، نماز قائم کرو، زکوٰۃ ادا کرو اور رمضان کے روزے رکھو۔'' اس نے عرض کیا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ایمان کیا ہے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: ''یہ کہ تم اللہ تعالیٰ، اس کے فرشتوں، اس کی کتاب، اس سے ملاقات، اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان رکھو اور آخری قیامت پر ایمان لاؤ اور تقدیر پر بھی ایمان رکھو۔'' عرض کیا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا۔ عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! احسان کیا ہے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: ''اللہ تعالیٰ سے ایسے ڈرو جیسے تم اسے دیکھ رہے ہو اور اگر تم اسے نہیں دیکھتے تو وہ تمہیں ضرور دیکھ رہا ہے۔'' عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! قیامت کب آئے گی؟ ارشاد فرمایا: ''جس سے سوال کیا جا رہا ہے وہ سائل سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا، لیکن میں تمہیں اس کی نشانیاں بتاتا ہوں: جب لونڈی اپنے رب (مالک) کو جنم دے — یہ اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ہے، اور جب ننگے پاؤں والے لوگوں کے سردار بن جائیں — یہ اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ہے، اور جب بکریاں چرانے والے عمارتوں میں ایک دوسرے سے مقابلہ کریں — یہ اس کی نشانیوں میں سے ہے۔ پانچ چیزیں ایسی ہیں جو اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا۔'' پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تلاوت فرمائی: {اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عِنْدَهٗ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ...} پھر وہ شخص پلٹ گیا تو ارشاد فرمایا: ''اسے واپس لاؤ!'' لوگوں نے تلاش کیا لیکن نہ ملا۔ ارشاد فرمایا: ''یہ جبرائیل (علیہ السلام) تھے جو لوگوں کو دین سکھانے آئے تھے۔''
