حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَحَانَتِ الصَّلاَةُ فَجَاءَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ أَتُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ فَأُقِيمُ قَالَ نَعَمْ . قَالَ فَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَالنَّاسُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَتَخَلَّصَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ فِي الصَّفِّ فَصَفَّقَ النَّاسُ - وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لاَ يَلْتَفِتُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ - فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ التَّصْفِيقَ الْتَفَتَ فَرَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنِ امْكُثْ مَكَانَكَ فَرَفَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَدَيْهِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى مَا أَمَرَهُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ اسْتَأْخَرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى فِي الصَّفِّ وَتَقَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ " يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَثْبُتَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَا كَانَ لاِبْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَا لِي رَأَيْتُكُمْ أَكْثَرْتُمُ التَّصْفِيقَ مَنْ نَابَهُ شَىْءٌ فِي صَلاَتِهِ فَلْيُسَبِّحْ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا سَبَّحَ الْتُفِتَ إِلَيْهِ وَإِنَّمَا التَّصْفِيحُ لِلنِّسَاءِ " .
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to me, he said: I read before Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), from Abu Hazim, from Hadrat Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be well pleased with him), that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to the tribe of Banu Amr ibn Awf to bring about reconciliation among them. Meanwhile, the time for prayer arrived, so the mu'adhdhin came to Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) and said: Would you lead the people in prayer so that I may call the iqamah? He said: Yes. Hadrat Sahl (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) commenced the prayer. In the meantime, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) arrived while the people were in prayer. He made his way through until he stood in the (first) row. The people began to clap their hands — and Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) would not look to either side during his prayer — but when the people clapped persistently, he turned and saw the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) signaled to him to stay in his place. Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) raised both his hands and praised Allah the Almighty for what the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had commanded him. Then Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) stepped back and stood properly in the row, and the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stepped forward and led the prayer. When he finished, he said: 'O Hadrat Abu Bakr, what prevented you from remaining in your place when I commanded you?' Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: It was not befitting for the son of Abu Quhafah to lead the prayer in front of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (turning to the Companions, may Allah be well pleased with them all) said: 'What is the matter? I saw you clapping excessively. When something happens to you during prayer (that requires drawing attention), say SubhanAllah, for when one says SubhanAllah, attention will be turned to him. Clapping of hands is only for women.'
الترجمة الأردية
مجھ سے یحییٰ بن یحییٰ نے بیان کیا، فرمایا: میں نے امام مالک رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ کے سامنے پڑھا، ابو حازم سے، انہوں نے حضرت سہل بن سعد ساعدی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بنو عمرو بن عوف کے ہاں ان کے درمیان صلح کرانے کے لیے تشریف لے گئے۔ اس دوران نماز کا وقت ہو گیا تو مؤذن حضرت ابو بکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس آیا اور عرض کی: کیا آپ لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائیں گے تاکہ میں تکبیر کہوں؟ انہوں نے فرمایا: ہاں۔ حضرت سہل رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے نماز شروع فرما دی، اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لے آئے جبکہ لوگ نماز میں تھے، آپ بچ کر گزرتے ہوئے (پہلی) صف میں پہنچ کر کھڑے ہو گئے۔ اس پر لوگوں نے تالیاں بجانا شروع کر دیں — اور حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اپنی نماز میں ادھر ادھر نہیں دیکھا کرتے تھے — جب لوگوں نے مسلسل تالیاں بجائیں تو آپ متوجہ ہوئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو دیکھا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں اشارہ فرمایا کہ اپنی جگہ ٹھہرے رہو۔ حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اٹھائے اور اللہ عزوجل کا شکر ادا فرمایا اس بات پر جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں حکم فرمایا تھا، پھر حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ پیچھے ہٹ کر صف میں صحیح طرح کھڑے ہو گئے اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم آگے بڑھے اور آپ نے نماز پڑھائی۔ جب آپ فارغ ہوئے تو فرمایا: ''اے حضرت ابو بکر! جب میں نے تمہیں حکم دیا تو تمہیں اپنی جگہ ٹھہرے رہنے سے کس چیز نے روک دیا؟'' حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کی: ابو قحافہ کے بیٹے کی شان نہیں تھی کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سامنے (کھڑے ہو کر) نماز پڑھائے۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے (صحابہ کرام رضوان اللہ تعالیٰ علیہم اجمعین کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر) فرمایا: ''کیا ہوا؟ میں نے تم لوگوں کو دیکھا کہ تم بہت تالیاں بجا رہے تھے؟ جب نماز میں تمہیں کوئی ایسی بات پیش آ جائے (جس پر توجہ دلانا ضروری ہو) تو سبحان اللہ کہو، کیونکہ جب کوئی سبحان اللہ کہے گا تو اس کی طرف توجہ کی جائے گی، ہاتھ پر ہاتھ مارنا صرف عورتوں کے لیے ہے۔''
