Hadrat Salm ibn Zarir al-'Attar said: I heard Abu Raja al-'Atardi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrating from Hadrat 'Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be well pleased with him), who said: I was with the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on a journey. We travelled the whole night until near dawn, when we stopped and were overpowered by sleep until the sun shone. The first to awake among us was Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him). When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) slept, we did not awaken him, allowing him to wake up of his own accord. Then Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) woke up. He stood near the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and began reciting Takbir in a loud voice until the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) woke up. When he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) raised his head and saw the sun shining, he said: 'Move on.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) rode with us until the sun had risen fully bright, then he dismounted and led us in the Fajr prayer. One man stayed apart and did not pray with us. When we gave the salutation, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to him: 'So-and-so, why did you not pray with us?' He submitted: O the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah, I am in a state of ritual impurity. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered him, and he performed Tayammum with dust and prayed. Then he (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent me ahead quickly with some riders to search for water. We were extremely thirsty. While travelling, we came upon a woman sitting on a camel with her feet hanging between two water-skins. We asked her: Where is water? She said: Alas! There is no water for you. We asked: How far is the distance between your family and water? She said: A day and night's journey. We said: Come to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). She said: What is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? We gave her no choice in the matter and brought her before the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He asked her and she told him what she had told us, and also informed him that she was a widow with orphan children. He ordered her water-carrying camel to be made to kneel. He gargled and poured water into the openings of the water-skins. The camel was then raised, and we — forty extremely thirsty men — drank from the water-skins until we were fully satiated. We filled all our water-skins and vessels, and washed our companion (who needed a bath), but we did not give any camel water to drink, and yet the two water-skins were about to burst from the abundance of water. Then he said: 'Bring whatever you have.' We collected scraps of food and dates and packed them in a bundle for her. He said to her: 'Go and feed this to your children, and know that we have not diminished your water in any way.' When she returned to her family, she said: I have met the greatest magician among humankind, or else he is indeed a the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) as he claims, and this is his case thus and thus. Then Allah guided that isolated settlement through that woman. She accepted Islam and the people also accepted Islam.
الترجمة الأردية
سلم بن زریر عطاری نے کہا: میں نے ابو رجاء عطاری رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ سے سنا، وہ حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کر رہے تھے، فرمایا: میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ایک سفر میں آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ہمراہ تھا، ہم اس رات چلتے رہے حتی کہ جب صبح قریب آئی تو ہم (تھکاوٹ کے سبب) اتر پڑے، ہم پر (نیند میں ڈوبی) آنکھیں غالب آ گئیں یہاں تک کہ سورج چمکنے لگا۔ ہم میں سے جو سب سے پہلے بیدار ہوئے وہ حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تھے۔ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سو جاتے تو ہم آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو جگایا نہیں کرتے تھے حتی کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم خود بیدار ہو جاتے۔ پھر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جاگے، وہ اللہ کے نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے قریب کھڑے ہو گئے اور اللہ اکبر پکارنے لگے اور (اس) تکبیر میں آواز اونچی کرنے لگے یہاں تک کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم بھی جاگ گئے۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سر اٹھایا اور دیکھا کہ سورج چمک رہا ہے تو فرمایا: ''(آگے) چلو۔'' آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہمیں لے کر چلے یہاں تک کہ سورج (روشن) ہو کر سفید ہو گیا، آپ اترے، ہمیں صبح کی نماز پڑھائی۔ لوگوں میں سے ایک آدمی الگ ہو گیا اور اس نے ہمارے ساتھ نماز نہ پڑھی۔ جب سلام پھیرا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اس سے فرمایا: ''فلاں! تم نے ہمارے ساتھ نماز کیوں نہیں پڑھی؟'' اس نے عرض کی: یا نبی اللہ! مجھے جنابت لاحق ہو گئی ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اسے حکم دیا، اس نے مٹی سے تیمم کیا اور نماز پڑھی۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے چند سواروں سمیت پانی کی تلاش میں جلدی اپنے آگے روانہ کیا۔ ہم سخت پیاسے تھے۔ جب ہم چل رہے تھے تو ہمیں ایک عورت ملی جس نے اپنے پاؤں دو مشکوں کے درمیان لٹکا رکھے تھے (بکری مشکوں سمیت پاؤں لٹکائے، اونٹ پر سوار تھی)۔ ہم نے اس سے پوچھا: پانی کہاں ہے؟ کہنے لگی: افسوس! تمھارے لیے پانی نہیں ہے۔ ہم نے پوچھا: تمھارے گھر اور پانی کے درمیان کتنا فاصلہ ہے؟ اس نے کہا: ایک دن اور رات کی مسافت ہے۔ ہم نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس چلو۔ کہنے لگی: رسول اللہ کیا ہوتا ہے؟ ہم نے اسے اس کے معاملے میں (فیصلے کا) کچھ اختیار نہ دیا حتی کہ اسے لے آئے اس کے ساتھ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سامنے حاضر ہوئے، آپ نے اس سے پوچھا تو اس نے آپ کو اسی طرح بتایا جس طرح ہمیں بتایا تھا اور آپ کو یہ بھی بتایا کہ وہ یتیم بچوں والی ہے، اس کے (زیرِ کفالت) بہت سے یتیم بچے ہیں۔ آپ نے اس کی پانی ڈھونے والی اونٹنی کے بارے میں حکم دیا، اسے بٹھا دیا گیا اور آپ نے کلی کر کے مشکوں کے اوپر کے دونوں سوراخوں میں پانی ڈالا۔ پھر آپ نے اس کی اونٹنی کو کھڑا کیا تو ہم سب نے — اور ہم چالیس (شدید) پیاسے افراد تھے — (ان مشکوں سے) پانی پیا یہاں تک کہ ہم سیراب ہو گئے اور ہمارے پاس جتنی مشکیں اور پانی کے برتن تھے سب بھر لیے اور اپنے ساتھی کو غسل بھی کرایا، البتہ ہم نے کسی اونٹ کو پانی نہ پلایا اور وہ یعنی دونوں مشکیں پانی (کی مقدار زیادہ ہو جانے کے سبب) پھٹنے والی ہو گئیں۔ پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''تمھارے پاس جو کچھ ہے، لے آؤ۔'' ہم نے ٹکڑے اور کھجوریں اکٹھی کیں، اس کے لیے ایک تھیلی کا منہ بند کر دیا گیا تو آپ نے اس سے فرمایا: ''جاؤ اور یہ خوراک اپنے بچوں کو کھلاؤ اور جان لو! ہم نے تمھارے پانی میں کمی نہیں کی۔'' جب وہ اپنے گھر والوں کے پاس پہنچی تو کہا: میں انسانوں کے سب سے بڑے ساحر سے مل کر آئی ہوں یا پھر جس طرح کہ وہ خود کو سمجھتا ہے، وہ نبی ہے، اور اس کا معاملہ اس اس طرح سے ہے۔ پھر (آخر کار) اللہ نے اس عورت کے سبب سے لوگوں سے کٹی ہوئی اس آبادی کو ہدایت عطا کر دی، وہ مسلمان ہو گئی اور (باقی) لوگ بھی مسلمان ہو گئے۔
