Narrated Abu Humaid As-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) in the presence of ten Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), one of whom was Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: 'I am the most knowledgeable among you of the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).' They said: 'How so? By Allah, you were neither the most frequent in following him nor the earliest in his companionship.' He said: 'Nevertheless.' They said: 'Then present it.' He said: 'When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood for prayer, he would raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then say the Takbir until every bone settled in its place in a balanced manner. Then he would recite, then say the Takbir and raise his hands level with his shoulders until every bone returned to its joint. He would place his palms on his knees, then straighten his back, neither letting his head droop nor raising it. Then he would raise his head and say: Sami Allahu liman hamidah, raising his hands level with his shoulders in an upright position.' Abu Asim said: 'I think he said: until every bone returned to its place.' Then he would say 'Allahu Akbar' and descend to the ground, keeping his arms away from his sides, then prostrate. Then he would raise his head and fold his left leg, sitting upon it. He would spread his toes when prostrating. Then he would prostrate again, then raise his head and say 'Allahu Akbar,' fold his left leg and sit upon it in an upright position until every bone returned to its place. Then he would do the same in the next rak'ah. When he stood from the second rak'ah, he would say the Takbir and raise his hands level with his shoulders as he did at the opening of the prayer. He would do the same for the remainder of his prayer, until the final sitting in which the Salam was given, he would draw back his left leg and sit with his weight on his left side (tawarruk).' They said: 'You have spoken the truth; this is how he used to pray.'

سیدنا ابو حمید ساعدی رضی اللہ عنہ نے سیدنا ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سمیت دس صحابہ کی موجودگی میں کہا: رسول للہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی نماز کو میں آپ سب سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں، انہوں نے کہا: وہ کیسے؟ اللہ کی قسم! نہ تو آپ ہم سے زیادہ نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا اتباع کرنے والے تھے اور نہ ہی ہم سے زیادہ صحبت رکھنے والے تھے، سیدنا ابو حمید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: ٹھیک ہے! انہوں نے کہا: اچھا پھر پیش کریں۔ سیدنا ابو حمید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے، تو کندھوں کے برابر ہاتھ اٹھاتے اور تکبیر کہتے حتی کہ ہر ہڈی اعتدال کے ساتھ اپنی اپنی جگہ آ جاتی، پھر قرآت کرتے، پھر تکبیر کہتے اور کندھوں کے برابر ہاتھ اٹھاتے، حتی کہ ہر ہڈی اپنے جوڑ پر واپس آ جاتی، پھر رکوع کرتے اور ہتھیلیوں کو گھٹنوں پر رکھ کر بالکل سیدھے ہو جاتے، نہ سر کو زیادہ جھکاتے، نہ اونچا کرتے، پھر سر اٹھاتے اور«سمع الله لمن حمده»کہتے، پھر ہاتھوں کو کندھوں کے برابر اٹھاتے اور سیدھے کھڑے ہو جاتے، ابو عاصم رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ میرے خیال میں یوں کہا تھا: حتی کہ ہر ہڈی اپنی جگہ پر واپس آ جاتی، پھر«الله اكبر»کہتے اور زمین کی طرف جھکتے، دونوں ہاتھوں کو پہلوؤں سے دور رکھ کر سجدہ کرتے، پھر سر اٹھاتے اور بایاں پاؤں موڑ کر اس کے اوپر بیٹھتے۔ جب سجدہ کرتے تو دونوں پاؤں کی انگلیاں کھلی رکھتے، پھر دوبارہ سجدہ کرتے، پھر«الله اكبر»کہتے اور اپنا سر اٹھاتے اور بایاں پاؤں موڑ کر اس پر اتنی دیر سیدھے بیٹھتے کہ ہر ہڈی اپنی جگہ پر لوٹ آتی، پھر دوسری رکعت میں ایسے ہی کرتے، پھر جب دو رکعتوں سے اٹھتے، تو دونوں ہاتھ اسی طرح کندھوں کے برابر اٹھاتے، جیسا کہ نماز شروع کرتے وقت اٹھاتے تھے، پھر باقی نماز اسی طرح ادا کرتے، حتی کہ جب آخری قعدہ، جس میں سلام پھیرا جاتا ہے، میں ہوتے، تو بائیں پاؤں کو (سرین کے نیچے سے دائیں طرف) نکال کر بائیں کو لہے پر بیٹھتے۔ ان سب نے کہا: آپ نے سچ کہا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمایسے ہی نماز پڑھتے تھے۔[المنتقى ابن الجارود/كتاب الصلاة/حدیث: 192]
