Hadrat Mu'awiyah ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: While I was praying with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), a man in the congregation sneezed. I said: "Yarhamuk Allah" (May Allah have mercy on you). The people stared at me with their eyes, so I said: "Woe to me! Why are you staring at me?" They began striking their hands on their thighs. When I saw them silencing me, I became quiet. When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) - may my father and mother be sacrificed for him, I have never seen a teacher before him or after him better in teaching than him - finished praying, by Allah, he did not scold me, nor strike me, nor insult me. He stated: "Indeed, in this prayer, nothing of people's speech is appropriate. Rather, it is Tasbih, Takbir, and recitation of the Qur'an" - or as the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am recently removed from ignorance, and Allah has brought Islam. Among us are men who go to soothsayers." He stated: "Do not go to them." I said: "And among us are men who draw lines." He stated: "There was a prophet who used to draw lines, so whoever matches his line, that is acceptable." He said: I had a slave girl who used to tend my sheep behind Mount Uhud and al-Jawwaniyyah. One day I came and found that a wolf had taken a sheep from them. I am a man from the children of Adam - I get upset as they get upset. So I struck her a blow. Then I came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he considered it a grave matter. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I not free her?" He stated: "Bring her to me." So I brought her to him. He asked her: "Where is Allah?" She said: "In the heaven." He asked: "Who am I?" She said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." He stated: "Free her, for she is a believer."
