Abu Yahya narrated to us, Abd al-Ghaffar ibn Dawud narrated to us, Yahya ibn Ghailan narrated to us, Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us from Layth, from Tawus, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «When my nation does fifteen things, tribulation will befall them.» It was said: What are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: «When the spoils of war become exclusively for the rich, trust becomes a means of profit, zakah becomes a burden, a man obeys his wife and disobeys his mother, he is kind to his friend and shuns his father, voices are raised in the mosques, the leader of the people is the most wicked among them, a man is honored out of fear of his evil, wine is drunk, silk is worn, singing girls and musical instruments appear, and the later ones of this nation curse the earlier ones—then let them anticipate a red wind, transformation, or being swallowed up by the earth.»
