أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَ��ِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي السُّنَّةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا وَلَا يَؤُمَّنَّ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يَقْعُدُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "The one who should lead the people in prayer is the most well-versed of them in the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable of them in the Sunnah. If they are equal in the Sunnah, then the earliest of them in migration. If they are equal in migration, then the eldest of them in age. A man should not lead another man in prayer in his place of authority, nor should anyone sit in his place of honor except with his permission."
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابو مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "لوگوں کی امامت وہ کرے جو اللہ کی کتاب کا سب سے زیادہ قاری ہو۔ اگر قراءت میں برابر ہوں تو جو سنت کا سب سے زیادہ عالم ہو۔ اگر سنت میں برابر ہوں تو جو ہجرت میں سب سے پہلے ہو۔ اگر ہجرت میں برابر ہوں تو جو عمر میں سب سے بڑا ہو۔ اور کوئی آدمی کسی دوسرے آدمی کی اختیار کی جگہ میں اس کی امامت نہ کرے اور نہ اس کی عزت کی جگہ پر بیٹھے مگر اس کی اجازت سے۔"
