Jabir narrated: 'Jibril came to the Prophet ﷺ when the sun had passed its zenith and said: "Stand, O Muhammad, and pray Dhuhr." So he stood and prayed Dhuhr. Then he came to him when the shadow of everything was equal to its length and said: "Stand and pray Asr." So he stood and prayed Asr. Then he came to him when the sun had set and said: "Stand and pray Maghrib." So he stood and prayed Maghrib. Then he waited until the twilight disappeared, then came to him and said: "Stand and pray Isha." So he prayed it. Then he came to him at dawn and said: "Stand, O Muhammad, and pray." So he stood and prayed Fajr. He came to him the next day when the shadow of everything was equal to its length and said: "Stand and pray Dhuhr." So he stood and prayed Dhuhr. Then he came to him when the shadow of everything was twice its length and said: "Stand and pray Asr." So he stood and prayed Asr. Then he came to him when the sun had set, at the same time as before, and said: "Stand and pray Maghrib." So he stood and prayed Maghrib. Then he came for Isha when a third of the night had passed and said: "Stand and pray Isha." So he stood and prayed Isha. Then he came for Fajr when it had become very bright and said: "Stand and pray Fajr." So he stood and prayed Fajr. Then he said: "Between these two times is the time for all prayers."'
