Hadrat Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say: "The Sirat shall be placed in the midst of Hell, upon which there shall be thorns like the thorns of the sa'dan plant. Then the people shall seek to pass — some saved and unharmed, some wounded by it and detained, and some thrown headlong into it. When Allah, the Exalted, has completed the judging between His servants, the believers shall look for men who were in the world praying their prayer, giving their zakat, fasting their fasts, performing their Hajj, and fighting their battles. They shall say, 'O our Lord, servants of Your servants who were in the world with us — they prayed our prayer, gave our zakat, fasted our fasts, performed our Hajj, and fought our battles — we do not see them.' He shall say, 'Go to the Fire, and whoever you find therein, bring him out.' They shall find them — the Fire has taken them according to their deeds: some it has taken up to their feet, some up to their knees, some up to their waist, some up to their chest, and some up to their neck, but the faces have not been covered. They shall extract them and throw them into the Water of Life." It was asked, "O Prophet of Allah, and what is the Water of Life?" He stated: "It is the washing of the people of Paradise — they shall sprout in it as a plant sprouts in the debris of a flood. Then the prophets shall be granted intercession for everyone who used to testify that there is no god but Allah sincerely, and they shall extract them from it. Then Allah shall show mercy with His compassion upon whoever is in it, and He shall not leave anyone in whose heart there is even a mustard-seed's weight of faith except that He shall bring him out of it." This hadith is authentic upon the condition of Muslim, though neither [al-Bukhari nor Muslim] recorded it. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in al-Talkhis.

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: "صراط جہنم کے بیچ میں رکھا جائے گا جس پر سعدان جیسے کانٹے ہوں گے۔ پھر لوگ گزرنے کی کوشش کریں گے — کوئی بچ کر سلامت، کوئی زخمی اور روکا ہوا، اور کوئی اوندھے منہ اس میں گرا ہوا۔ جب اللہ تعالیٰ بندوں کے درمیان فیصلے سے فارغ ہو جائے گا تو مومن ان لوگوں کو تلاش کریں گے جو دنیا میں ان کی طرح نماز پڑھتے تھے، زکوٰۃ دیتے تھے، روزے رکھتے تھے، حج کرتے تھے اور جہاد کرتے تھے۔ وہ کہیں گے: اے ہمارے رب! تیرے بندوں میں سے بندے تھے جو دنیا میں ہمارے ساتھ تھے — ہماری نماز پڑھتے تھے، ہماری زکوٰۃ دیتے تھے، ہمارے روزے رکھتے تھے، ہمارا حج کرتے تھے اور ہمارا جہاد کرتے تھے — ہم انہیں نہیں دیکھ رہے۔ فرمائے گا: آگ کے پاس جاؤ، جسے اس میں پاؤ نکالو۔ وہ انہیں پائیں گے کہ آگ نے انہیں ان کے اعمال کے مطابق لیا ہوا ہے — کسی کو قدموں تک، کسی کو گھٹنوں تک، کسی کو تہبند تک، کسی کو سینے تک، اور کسی کو گردن تک، لیکن چہرے نہیں ڈھکے۔ وہ انہیں نکالیں گے اور ماءِ حیات میں ڈالیں گے۔" عرض کیا گیا: یا نبی اللہ! ماءِ حیات کیا ہے؟ فرمایا: "اہلِ جنت کا غسل — وہ اس میں ایسے اگیں گے جیسے کھیتی سیلاب کے جھاگ میں اگتی ہے۔ پھر انبیاء کو ہر اس شخص کے لیے شفاعت کا موقع دیا جائے گا جو مخلصانہ لا الہ الا اللہ کی گواہی دیتا تھا — وہ انہیں اس سے نکالیں گے۔ پھر اللہ تعالیٰ اپنی رحمت سے مہربانی فرمائے گا جو اس میں ہوں گے اور کسی کو نہیں چھوڑے گا جس کے دل میں ذرہ بھر بھی ایمان ہوگا مگر اسے نکال لے گا۔" یہ حدیث صحیح مسلم کی شرط پر ہے لیکن دونوں نے اسے نقل نہیں کیا۔ ذہبی نے تلخیص میں اس پر سکوت کیا۔
