Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Balawayh narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Shabib al-Ma'mari narrated to us, Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani narrated to us, Hammad ibn Waqid al-Saffar narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Dhakwan, the maternal uncle of the children of Hammad ibn Zayd, narrated to us from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Hadrat Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them) who said: 'While we were sitting in the courtyard of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), a woman passed by. A man from the gathering said: This is the daughter of Muhammad. Abu Sufyan said: The likeness of Muhammad among the Banu Hashim is like a basil plant in the midst of fig trees. The woman went and informed the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came out with anger visible on his face and stated: "What is the matter with words reaching me from certain people? Indeed Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, created the heavens and chose the highest and settled therein whomever He willed from His creation. Then He created the creation and chose from the creation the children of Adam, and chose from the children of Adam the Arabs, and chose from the Arabs Mudar, and chose from Mudar Quraysh, and chose from Quraysh the Banu Hashim, and chose me from the Banu Hashim. So I am from the Banu Hashim, from the choicest to the choicest. Whoever loves the Arabs, it is out of love for me that he loves them, and whoever hates the Arabs, it is out of hatred for me that he hates them."' It has also been reported in this chain from Muhammad ibn Dhakwan, from Amr ibn Dinar, from Abdullah ibn Umar.

ابو بکر محمد بن احمد بن بالویہ نے ہم سے بیان کیا، حسن بن علی بن شبیب المعمری نے ہم سے بیان کیا، ابو الربیع الزہرانی نے ہم سے بیان کیا، حماد بن واقد الصفار نے ہم سے بیان کیا، محمد بن ذکوان جو حماد بن زید کے بچوں کے ماموں تھے نے محمد بن المنکدر سے، وہ حضرت عبد اللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ فرمایا: 'ہم سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے صحن میں بیٹھے تھے کہ ایک عورت گزریں۔ قوم میں سے ایک شخص نے کہا: یہ محمد کی بیٹی ہیں۔ ابو سفیان نے کہا: محمد کی مثال بنو ہاشم میں ریحان کی طرح ہے انجیروں کے درمیان۔ وہ عورت گئیں اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو خبر دی، تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم باہر تشریف لائے اور آپ کے چہرۂ مبارک پر غصے کے آثار نمایاں تھے۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "لوگوں کی کچھ باتیں مجھے پہنچ رہی ہیں، کیا ماجرا ہے؟ بے شک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے آسمانوں کو پیدا فرمایا اور سب سے اونچے کو منتخب فرمایا اور اس میں اپنی مخلوق میں سے جسے چاہا بسایا۔ پھر مخلوق کو پیدا فرمایا اور مخلوق سے بنی آدم کو منتخب فرمایا، بنی آدم سے عرب کو چنا، عرب سے مُضَر کو چنا، مُضَر سے قریش کو چنا، قریش سے بنو ہاشم کو چنا، اور بنو ہاشم سے مجھے چنا۔ پس میں بنو ہاشم سے ہوں، بہترین سے بہترین۔ جو عرب سے محبت رکھے تو وہ میری محبت کی وجہ سے ان سے محبت رکھتا ہے، اور جو عرب سے بغض رکھے تو وہ میرے بغض کی وجہ سے ان سے بغض رکھتا ہے۔"' اس اسناد میں محمد بن ذکوان سے عمرو بن دینار سے عبد اللہ بن عمر سے بھی روایت کیا گیا ہے۔
