Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Batta narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn al-Jahm narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Umar narrated to us from al-Dahhak ibn Uthman, Makhrama ibn Sulayman al-Walibi narrated to him from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Talha who said: Hadrat Talha ibn Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said to me: "I was present at the market of Busra when a monk in his cell said: 'Ask the people of this fair if there is anyone among them from the people of the Sanctuary.' Talha said: I said: 'Yes, I am.' He said: 'Has Ahmad appeared yet?' I said: 'Who is Ahmad?' He said: 'The son of Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib. This is his month in which he shall emerge, and he is the last of the prophets. His emergence is from the Sanctuary and his migration is to a land of date palms, volcanic rock, and salt marshes. Beware lest you be preceded to him.' Talha said: What he said settled in my heart. I departed quickly until I reached Makkah. I asked: 'Has anything happened?' They said: 'Yes, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, the Trustworthy One, has claimed prophethood and Ibn Abi Quhafa has followed him.' I went to Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) and said: 'Have you followed this man?' He said: 'Yes, go to him and follow him, for he calls to the truth.' Talha told him what the monk had said. Abu Bakr took Talha and entered with him upon the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Talha accepted Islam and informed the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) what the monk had said, which pleased the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When Abu Bakr and Talha accepted Islam, Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid seized them and tied them together in one rope, and Banu Taym did not defend them. Nawfal ibn Khuwaylid was called the strongest of Quraysh, so Abu Bakr and Talha were called 'the paired ones.' Talha did not witness Badr because the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had sent him and Sa'id ibn Zayd to spy on the caravan. They returned after the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) had finished fighting the polytheists he encountered. They met him between Zulal and Sabala on the road, returning from Badr. But he witnessed Uhud and other battles with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He was among those who stood firm with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on the day of Uhud when the people fled, and he pledged allegiance unto death. Malik ibn Zuhayr shot at the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that day, and Talha shielded the blessed face of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with his hand. The arrow struck his little finger and it became paralysed. He said 'Hiss, hiss' when the arrow struck him. It is mentioned that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Had he said Bismillah, he would have entered Paradise while the people watched him.' Talha was struck on his head that day by a man from the polytheists with two blows - one while he was facing him and one while he had turned away. Dirar ibn al-Khattab al-Fihri used to say: 'By Allah, I struck him that day.'"

ابو عبد اللہ محمد بن احمد بن بطہ نے ہمیں بیان کیا، حسن بن الجہم نے ہمیں بیان کیا، حسین بن الفرج نے ہمیں بیان کیا، محمد بن عمر نے ضحاک بن عثمان سے، مخرمہ بن سلیمان والبی نے ابراہیم بن محمد بن طلحہ سے روایت کیا، فرمایا: حضرت طلحہ بن عبد اللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے مجھے فرمایا: «میں بصریٰ کے بازار میں حاضر تھا جب ایک راہب اپنے خانقاہ سے پکارا: اس میلے والوں سے پوچھو کیا ان میں حرم والوں میں سے کوئی ہے؟ طلحہ نے فرمایا: میں نے کہا: ہاں میں ہوں۔ اس نے کہا: کیا احمد ظاہر ہوئے؟ میں نے کہا: احمد کون ہیں؟ کہا: عبد اللہ بن عبد المطلب کے بیٹے، یہ وہ مہینہ ہے جس میں وہ ظاہر ہوں گے اور وہ آخری نبی ہیں۔ ان کا ظہور حرم سے ہوگا اور ہجرت کھجوروں، سنگلاخ زمین اور نمکین پانی کی طرف ہوگی۔ خبردار تم سبقت میں پیچھے نہ رہ جانا! طلحہ نے فرمایا: اس کی بات میرے دل میں بیٹھ گئی اور میں جلدی سے نکلا یہاں تک کہ مکہ پہنچ گیا۔ پوچھا: کوئی نئی بات ہوئی ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں محمد بن عبد اللہ الامین نے نبوت کا دعویٰ کیا ہے اور ابن ابی قحافہ نے ان کی پیروی کی ہے۔ میں نکلا اور حضرت ابو بکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس گیا اور پوچھا: آپ نے اس شخص کی پیروی کی ہے؟ فرمایا: ہاں، تم بھی ان کے پاس جاؤ اور ان کی پیروی کرو کیونکہ وہ حق کی طرف بلاتے ہیں۔ طلحہ نے انہیں راہب کی بات بتائی۔ ابو بکر طلحہ کو لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے۔ طلحہ نے اسلام قبول کیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو راہب کی بات بتائی تو آپ خوش ہوئے۔ جب ابو بکر اور طلحہ نے اسلام قبول کیا تو نوفل بن خویلد نے انہیں پکڑا اور ایک رسی میں باندھ دیا اور بنو تیم نے انہیں نہیں بچایا۔ نوفل بن خویلد کو قریش کا سب سے سخت آدمی کہا جاتا تھا اسی لیے ابو بکر اور طلحہ کو قرینین (جوڑا) کہا گیا۔ حضرت طلحہ بن عبید اللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بدر میں شامل نہیں ہوئے کیونکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انہیں اور سعید بن زید کو قافلے کی خبر لینے بھیجا تھا۔ وہ واپس آئے جب آپ مشرکین سے لڑائی سے فارغ ہو چکے تھے۔ انہوں نے آپ سے ظلل اور سبالہ کے درمیان شاہراہ پر ملاقات کی جب آپ بدر سے واپس آ رہے تھے۔ مگر انہوں نے احد اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ دوسری جنگوں میں شرکت کی۔ وہ ان لوگوں میں سے تھے جو احد کے دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ ثابت قدم رہے جب لوگ بھاگ گئے اور آپ سے موت پر بیعت کی۔ مالک بن زہیر نے اس دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر تیر مارا تو طلحہ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے چہرہ مبارک کو بچایا اور تیر ان کی چھنگلی میں لگا جو مفلوج ہو گئی۔ انہوں نے تیر لگنے پر حس حس کہا۔ بیان کیا جاتا ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اگر بسم اللہ کہتے تو جنت میں داخل ہوتے اور لوگ دیکھتے رہتے۔ اور اس دن طلحہ کو سر پر ایک مشرک نے دو ضربیں ماریں ایک سامنے سے اور ایک پیچھے سے۔ ضرار بن الخطاب فہری کہا کرتے تھے: بخدا اس دن میں نے انہیں مارا تھا۔»
