Ikrimah narrated: 'The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed away on Monday. He was kept for the rest of that day, through the night, and the next day, until he was buried on the night of Wednesday. People were saying: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) has not died, but his soul was taken up as the soul of Musa (peace be upon him) was taken up. Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) stood up and said: The Messenger of Allah has not died, but his soul was taken up as the soul of Musa was taken up. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah will not die until he cuts off the hands and tongues of certain people! Umar kept speaking until foam appeared at the corners of his mouth from the warnings he was issuing. Then Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: Indeed the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) has passed away. He is a human being and will decay as humans do. O people, bury your companion, for he is too honored in the sight of Allah to be made to die twice. Would He cause one of you to die once and cause him to die twice, when he is more honored by Allah than that? O people, bury your companion. If what you say is true, it is not difficult for Allah to remove the earth from over him. Indeed the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), by Allah, did not die until he left the path clear and bright — he made lawful what is lawful and prohibited what is prohibited, married and divorced, fought and made peace. No shepherd who follows his flock to the mountain tops, beating down thorny trees with his staff and plastering his water-trough with his own hands, was more toiling and hardworking than the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was among you. O people, bury your companion!' He said: 'Umm Ayman began to weep. It was said to her: O Umm Ayman, are you weeping for the Messenger of Allah? She said: By Allah, I am not weeping for the Messenger of Allah out of not knowing that he has gone to what is better for him than this world. But I weep because the news from heaven has been cut off.' Hammad said: 'Tears choked Ayyub when he reached this point.'
الترجمة الأردية
عکرمہ نے بیان کیا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال پیر کے دن ہوا۔ آپ کو باقی دن اور رات اور اگلے دن رکھا گیا یہاں تک کہ بدھ کی رات دفنایا گیا۔ لوگ کہہ رہے تھے: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم فوت نہیں ہوئے بلکہ ان کی روح اٹھا لی گئی جیسے موسیٰ علیہ السلام کی روح اٹھائی گئی تھی۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور کہا: رسول اللہ فوت نہیں ہوئے بلکہ ان کی روح اٹھائی گئی جیسے موسیٰ علیہ السلام کی۔ اللہ کی قسم! رسول اللہ اس وقت تک نہیں مریں گے جب تک بعض لوگوں کے ہاتھ اور زبانیں نہیں کاٹ دیں گے! عمر بولتے رہے یہاں تک کہ دھمکیوں اور وعیدوں سے ان کے منہ کے کناروں پر جھاگ آ گیا۔ پھر حضرت عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور فرمایا: بے شک رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال ہو گیا ہے۔ وہ بشر ہیں اور بوسیدہ ہوں گے جیسے بشر ہوتے ہیں۔ اے لوگو! اپنے ساتھی کو دفناؤ، وہ اللہ کے ہاں اتنے مکرم ہیں کہ انہیں دو بار نہیں مارے گا۔ کیا وہ تم میں سے کسی کو ایک بار مارے اور انہیں دو بار مارے جبکہ وہ اللہ کے ہاں اس سے زیادہ مکرم ہیں؟ اے لوگو! اپنے ساتھی کو دفناؤ، اگر بات ویسی ہے جیسے تم کہتے ہو تو اللہ کے لیے مشکل نہیں کہ ان سے مٹی ہٹا دے۔ بے شک رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم، اللہ کی قسم، اس وقت تک نہیں گئے جب تک راستہ صاف اور واضح نہیں چھوڑ دیا — حلال کو حلال اور حرام کو حرام کیا، نکاح اور طلاق کیا، جنگ اور صلح کی۔ کوئی بکریوں کا چرواہا جو ان کے مالک کے پیچھے پہاڑوں کی چوٹیوں پر چلے، اپنے ڈنڈے سے کانٹے دار درخت جھاڑے اور ہاتھوں سے حوض لیپے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے زیادہ محنتی اور مشقت کرنے والا نہیں تھا تمہارے درمیان۔ اے لوگو! اپنے ساتھی کو دفناؤ۔ اُم ایمن رونے لگیں۔ ان سے کہا گیا: اے ام ایمن! کیا تم رسول اللہ پر رو رہی ہو؟ انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں رسول اللہ پر اس لیے نہیں رو رہی کہ مجھے معلوم نہ ہو کہ وہ اس سے بہتر جگہ گئے ہیں جو دنیا ہے، لیکن میں آسمان کی خبر بند ہونے پر رو رہی ہوں۔ حماد نے کہا: جب ایوب یہاں پہنچے تو رونے سے ان کا گلا بھر آیا۔
