Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We performed Hajj al-Tamattu' during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and the Quran was revealed affirming its permissibility. Then a man expressed his personal opinion about it (forbidding it).

سیدنا عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے عہد میں (حج) تمتع کیا ہے اور قرآن میں یہی حکم اس کی بابت نازل ہوا مگر ایک شخص نے اپنی رائے سے جو چاہا کہہ دیا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 798]
