Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) used to forbid performing Tamattu' and Qiran (combining Hajj and Umrah). When Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this, he entered Ihram for both Hajj and Umrah together (Qiran), saying: "Labbayka bi 'Umratin wa Hajjatin" (Here I am for Umrah and Hajj). He said: "I will not abandon the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) for anyone's opinion."

سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ(اپنی خلافت میں) تمتع اور قران (حج اور عمرہ کے اکھٹا) کرنے سے منع کرتے تھے چنانچہ جب سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ دیکھا تو حج و عمرہ دونوں کا احرام ایک ساتھ باندھا اور کہا ((لبیک بعمرۃٍ و حجۃٍ)) (یعنی قران کیا) اور کہا کہ میں نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی سنت کسی کے کہنے سے ترک نہیں کر سکتا۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 793]
