Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said that a wealthy man passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), so he (peace be upon him) said, "What do you people say about this man?" They said, "He is such a man that if he sends a proposal (of marriage), it would be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, it would be granted; and if he speaks, he would be listened to attentively." Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) said that then the Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent. After that, another man, who was poor and needy among the Muslims, passed by, so he (peace be upon him) asked, "What do you say about this man?" They replied, "He is such a man that if he sends a proposal (of marriage), it would not be accepted; if he intercedes for someone, it would not be granted; and if he speaks, he would not be listened to." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Even if the whole earth were filled with such rich men, still this poor man is better than them."
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہایک مالدار شخص رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس سے گزرا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”تم لوگ اس کے بارے میں کیا کہتے ہو؟“انھوں نے کہا کہ یہ ایک ایسا شخص ہے کہ اگر کہیں (نکاح کا) پیغام بھیجے تو وہ پیغام قبول کیا جائے، اگر کسی کی سفارش کرے تو منظور کی جائے اور اگر کوئی بات کہے کہ تو کان لگا کر سنی جائے (سیدنا سہل رضی اللہ عنہ) کہتے ہیں کہ پھر آپ خاموش ہو گئے، اس کے بعد ایک دوسرا شخص جو مسلمانوں میں فقیر اور محتاج تھا، گزرا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے پوچھا کہ اس کے بارے میں تم کیا کہتے ہو؟ انھوں نے جواب دیا یہ ایک ایسا شخص ہے کہ اگر کہیں پیغام (نکاح) بھیجے تو وہ قبول نہ کیا جائے، اگر کسی کی سفارش کرے تو وہ منظور نہ کی جائے اور اگر کوئی بات کہے تو غور سے نہ سنی جائے۔ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ارشاد فرمایا:”ساری زمین ایسے امیروں سے بھر جائے تو تب بھی یہ فقیر ان سے بہتر ہے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1836]
