Ibrahim ibn Nasr narrated to us, Abu al-Walid narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from al-Jallas who said: I heard Uthman ibn Shammas — a man from his people — say: Sa'id ibn al-As sent me to Madinah. I was with Marwan and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) passed by. He [Marwan] said: Tell us some of your hadith, O Abu Hurairah. But he went on. Then he came back, and we said: Now he will speak. He said: How did you hear the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) pray over the funeral? He said: "You created him [or her], and You guided him [or her] to Islam, and You took his [or her] soul. You know his [or her] secret and open [deeds]. We have come as intercessors, so forgive him [or her]."
