حَدَّثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ الْمُثَنَّى قَال حَدَّثنا أَبُو داود قَال حَدَّثنا شُعْبَةُ قَال أَخْبَرَنِي أَيُّوبُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِي اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم أَوْ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم خَرَجَ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحًى فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ خَطَبَ ثُمَّ أَتَى النِّسَاءَ فَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَجَعَلَنْ يُلْقِين عَلَيه وَسَلَّم أَوْ قَالَ عَطَاءٌ أَشْهَدُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم خَرَجَ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ أَوْ أَضْحًى فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ خَطَبَ ثُمَّ أَتَى النِّسَاءَ فَأَمَرَهُنَّ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَجَعَلَنْ يُلْقِين

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: Ayyub informed me, he said: I heard Ata narrating from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both), who said: I bear witness regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) — or Ata said: I bear witness regarding Ibn Abbas — that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out on the day of Fitr or Adha, prayed, then delivered the sermon, then went to the women and commanded them to give charity. They began casting [their jewelry to give in charity].
