'Amr ibn 'Ali and Muhammad ibn Ma'mar narrated to us, they said: Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Ja'far ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman al-Qurashi narrated to us, he said: 'Umar ibn 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, he said: I heard 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr narrating from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: We said: "O Messenger of Allah, how did you know that you are a Prophet?" He said: "I did not know until I was informed of it, O Abu Dharr. Two angels came to me while I was in one of the valleys of Makkah. One of them said to the other: 'Is it him?' He said: 'Weigh him against a man.' So I was weighed against a man and I outweighed him. He said: 'Weigh him against ten.' So I was weighed against ten and I outweighed them. Then he said: 'Weigh him against a hundred.' So I was weighed against a hundred and I outweighed them. Then he said: 'Weigh him against a thousand.' So I was weighed against a thousand and I outweighed them. Then one of them said to the other: 'If you weighed him against his entire nation, he would outweigh them.' Then one of them said to the other: 'Split open his belly.' So he split open my belly and took out from it the portion of Satan and the clot of blood and cast them away. Then one of them said to the other: 'Wash his belly as one washes a vessel, and wash his heart as one washes a garment.' Then he called for tranquility (sakinah) - it was like a white, shimmering thing - and it was placed in my heart. Then one of them said to his companion: 'Sew up his belly.' So he sewed up my belly and they placed the seal between my shoulders. As soon as they departed from me, it was as if I was seeing the matter with my own eyes." Ibn Ma'mar added in his narration: "And they began falling off from me from the side of the scale." This narration - we do not know it to be narrated from Abu Dharr except through this chain, and we do not know whether 'Urwah heard from Abu Dharr.
