حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ نَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ارْفَعْ بَصَرَكَ فَانْظُرْ أَرَفَعَ رَجُلٌ تَرَاهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ انْظُرْ أَوْضَعَ رَجُلٌ تَرَاهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مُكْتَنِفٌ رَجُلًا فَقُلْتُ هَذَا فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لِهَذَا أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ قُرَابِ الْأَرْضِ وَمِثْلُ هَذَا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ يُرْوَى كَلَامُهُ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَوَجْهٍ آخَرَ رَوَاهُ الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ وَحَدِيثُ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ أَشْهُرُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ارْفَعْ بَصَرَكَ فَانْظُرْ أَرَفَعَ رَجُلٌ تَرَاهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ انْظُرْ أَوْضَعَ رَجُلٌ تَرَاهُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مُكْتَنِفٌ رَجُلًا فَقُلْتُ هَذَا فَقَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لِهَذَا أَفْضَلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ قُرَابِ الْأَرْضِ وَمِثْلُ هَذَا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ يُرْوَى كَلَامُهُ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَوَجْهٍ آخَرَ رَوَاهُ الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ وَحَدِيثُ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ أَشْهُرُ

Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, he said: al-A'mash narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr, raise your gaze and look - who is the most dignified man you see in the mosque? I looked, and there was a man wearing a fine garment. I said: This one. He said: O Abu Dharr, look - who is the lowliest man you see in the mosque? I looked, and there was a destitute man. I said: This one. He said: By the One in Whose hand is my soul, this one is better in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection than an earth-full of men like that one. This hadith's wording is not known to be narrated from Abu Dharr except through this route and another route narrated by al-A'mash from Ibrahim al-Taymi from his father from Abu Dharr, and the hadith of Zayd ibn Wahb is more well-known.
