Ahmad ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us saying: Rawh ibn Ubadah narrated to us saying: Zakariyya ibn Ishaq narrated to us from Abu az-Zubayr from Jabir (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) delivered a sermon and mentioned a man from his Companions who died and was shrouded in a small shroud and buried at night. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) reprimanded that anyone should be buried at night until the funeral prayer has been performed over him, except if one is compelled to do so. And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'When one of you shrouds his brother, let him do it well.'
