أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ أنبأ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا الشَّافِعِيُّ أنبأ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي رَجُلٍ لَمْ يَحُجَّ فَحَجَّ يَنْوِي النَّافِلَةَ أَوْ حَجَّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَوْ حَجَّ عَنْ نَذْرِهِ قَالَ هَذِهِ حَجَّةُ الْإِسْلَامِ ثُمَّ يَحُجُّ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ بَعْدُ إِنْ شَاءَ وَعَنْ نَذْرِهِ

Ata said regarding a man who has never performed Hajj but performs Hajj intending it as a voluntary one, or performs Hajj on behalf of someone else, or performs Hajj for a vow he made: 'This counts as his obligatory Hajj of Islam. Then he may perform Hajj on behalf of the other person afterward if he wishes, and for his vow.'
