أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُقْبَةَ أَخَّرَ الصَّلَاةَ بِالْكُوفَةِ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ مَعَ أَبِي فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَامَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَثَوَّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ الْوَلِيدُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ أَجَاءَكَ مِنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَمْرٌ فَسَمْعٌ وَطَاعَةٌ؟ أَمِ ابْتَدَعْتَ الَّذِي صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَأْتِنَا مِنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَمْرٌ وَمَعَاذَ اللهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ ابْتَدَعْتُ أَبَى الله عَلَيْنَا وَرَسُولُهُ أَنْ نَنْتَظِرَكَ فِي صَلَاتِنَا وَنَتَّبِعَ حَاجَتَكَ
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Anas said: 'On the Monday when the veil was lifted from the face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the people were behind Abu Bakr in prayer, the Prophet was about to move the curtain aside, looking at us. He was standing as if his face were a page of a Mushaf (Quran). He smiled, and we were almost distracted from our prayer by the joy of seeing the Messenger of Allah. Abu Bakr stepped back to join the row, thinking the Messenger of Allah would come out for the prayer. The Prophet gestured to them to complete their prayer and dropped the curtain. He died on that day.'
