Asma' bint Abi Bakr's servant said: Asma' sent me to Abdullah ibn Umar, saying: 'It has reached me that you forbid three things: decorative borders on clothing, the red-dyed saddle cushion, and fasting the entire month of Rajab.' Abdullah said: 'As for Rajab, how about one who fasts perpetually? As for the decorative borders, I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears silk. So I feared the borders might be included. As for the red-dyed cushion, here is Abdullah's cushion, and it is red-dyed.' He returned to Asma' and told her. She said, 'This is the cloak of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him),' and she brought out a Persian-style cloak with brocade facing and its openings trimmed with brocade. She said, 'This was with Aisha until she passed away, and when she passed away I took it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to wear it, and we wash it for the sick seeking healing through it.' Muslim narrated it in his Sahih from Yahya ibn Yahya.
