وَأنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَا أنبأ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ الْأَزْرَقُ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ وَثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُبَشِّرٍ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَ��ْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ؓ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ نَظَرَ فِي ثَوْبِهِ احْتِلَامًا فَقَالَ كَبِرْتُ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَانِي جُنُبًا ثُمَّ لَا أَعْلَمُ ثُمَّ أَعَادَ وَلَمْ يَأْمُرْهُمْ أَنْ يُعِيدُوا قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ سَأَلْتُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَلَا أَجِيءُ بِهِ كَمَا أُرِيدُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهَذَا الْمُجْمَعُ عَلَيْهِ الْجُنُبُ يُعِيدُ وَلَا يُعِيدُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ يَعْنِي فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَلَا أَحْفَظُهُ وَلَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى هَذَا كَبِرْتُ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَانِي جُنُبًا ثُمَّ لَا أَعْلَمُ ثُمَّ أَعَادَ وَلَمْ يَأْمُرْهُمْ أَنْ يُعِيدُوا قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ سَأَلْتُ سُفْيَانَ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَلَا أَجِيءُ بِهِ كَمَا أُرِيدُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهَذَا الْمُجْمَعُ عَلَيْهِ الْجُنُبُ يُعِيدُ وَلَا يُعِيدُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ فِيهِ اخْتِلَافًا قَالَ عَلِيٌّ وَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ يَعْنِي فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ وَلَا أَحْفَظُهُ وَلَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى هَذَا

Abu Bakr and Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Ali ibn Umar al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Isma'il, from Muhammad ibn Hassan al-Azraq, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi. And from Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Mubashir, from Ahmad ibn Sinan, from Abd al-Rahman, from Hushaym, from Khalid ibn Salamah, from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar, that Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) led the people in prayer while in a state of major ritual impurity. When morning came, he saw seminal discharge in his garment and said: "I have grown old, by Allah! I see that I am in a state of major ritual impurity and do not know it." He then repeated his prayer but did not order them to repeat theirs. Abd al-Rahman said: I asked Sufyan about it and he said: "I heard it from Khalid ibn Salamah but I cannot relate it as I would like." Abd al-Rahman said: "This is the consensus - the one in a state of major ritual impurity repeats, but they do not repeat. I do not know of any disagreement about this." Ali said: Abu Ubayd said in his narration: "I heard it from Khalid ibn Salamah but I do not memorize it," and he did not add beyond this.
