أنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْبُوبِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ وَأَحْسَبُنِي أَنَا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اقْرَأِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي شَهْرٍ قَالَ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً قَالَ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً قَالَ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي خَمْسَ عَشَرَةَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً قَالَ فَاقْرَأْ فِي عَشَرَةٍ قُلْتُ إِنِّي أَجِدُ قُوَّةً قَالَ فَاقْرَأْهُ فِي سَبْعٍ وَلَا تَزِدْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ 4058 وَأنبأ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ بِبَغْدَادَ أنبأ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ ثنا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا سَعْدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الضَّخْمُ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى بَنِي زُهْرَةَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمِثْلِهِ سَوَاءً رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُوسَى وَعَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Mahbubi, from Sa'id ibn Mas'ud, from Ubaydullah ibn Musa, from Shayban, from Yahya, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, from Abu Salamah - and he said: I think I also heard it from Abu Salamah - from Abdullah ibn Amr who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to me: "Recite the Quran in a month." He said: "I have more capacity." He said: "Then recite it in twenty nights." I said: "I have more capacity." He said: "Then recite it in fifteen." I said: "I have more capacity." He said: "Then recite it in ten." I said: "I have more capacity." He said: "Then recite it in seven and do not add beyond that." And Abu al-Husayn ibn Bishran in Baghdad informed us, from Isma'il ibn Muhammad al-Saffar, from Abbas ibn Muhammad, from Sa'd ibn Hafs al-Dakhm, from Shayban ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, the freed slave of Banu Zuhrah, and he mentioned the hadith with the same wording. Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih from Ishaq from Ubaydullah ibn Musa and from Sa'd ibn Hafs. Muslim narrated it from al-Qasim ibn Zakariyya from Ubaydullah.
