Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq, from Bishr ibn Musa, from al-Humaydi, from Sufyan, from Abdah ibn Abi Lubabah and Asim ibn Bahdala, that they heard Zirr ibn Hubaysh saying: I asked Ubayy ibn Ka'b about the two refuge-seeking surahs and I said: "O Abu al-Mundhir, your brother Ibn Mas'ud erases them from the mushaf." He said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he said: It was said to me, so I said it. So we say as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said." Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih from Qutaybah and Ali ibn Abdullah from Sufyan.
