أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو نَصْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالُوا ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أنبأ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حَدِيثِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فِي قِصَّةِ وُضُوءِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَسْحِهِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ فَأَقْبَلْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى يَجِدَ النَّاسُ قَدْ قَدَّمُوا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ فَأَدْرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِحْدَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَصَلَّى مَعَ النَّاسِ الرَّكْعَةَ الْآخِرَةَ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُتِمُّ صَلَاتَهُ فَأَفْزَعَ ذَلِكَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَأَكْثَرُوا التَّسْبِيحَ فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاتَهُ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَحْسَنْتُمْ أَوْ قَدْ أَصَبْتُمْ يَغْبِطُهُمْ أَنْ صَلَّوَا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ فَأَرَدْتُ تَأْخِيرَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ دَعْهُ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, Abu Nasr Muhammad ibn Umar informed us, Ahmad ibn Salama narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yahya, Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr, and Muhammad ibn Rafi' narrated to us, they said: Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Ibn Shihab narrated to me from the hadith of Abbad ibn Ziyad that Urwah ibn al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah narrated to him that al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah informed him that he went on an expedition with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He mentioned the hadith about the story of the Prophet's ablution and his wiping over his leather socks. He said: Then he came. Al-Mughirah said: I came with him until we found that the people had put forward Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf to lead them in prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) caught one of the two rak'ahs and prayed the last rak'ah with the people. When Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf gave the salam, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood to complete his prayer. This alarmed the Muslims, and they said Subhan Allah repeatedly. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) finished his prayer, he turned to them and said: 'You did well' or 'You were right' — expressing his approval that they prayed the prayer at its proper time. Ibn Jurayj said: Ibn Shihab said from Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'd from Hamzah ibn al-Mughirah, a similar hadith to that of Abbad. Al-Mughirah said: I wanted to move Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf back, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Leave him.'
